What Is The Difference Between Peach Cobbler And Peach Pie?

A pie has a shell bottom (pie crust) made out of flour butter (or shortening) and water. It doesn’t necessarily need a top. A cobbler has the fruit touching the pan or baking dish with a topping on it normally made from sugars (brown and white) flour sometimes oatmeal. People sometimes even consider a cobbler fruit topped with Bisquick baked together. In short a pie has a crust bottom and can be sliced and served in wedges and a cobbler has no bottom except fruit and is normally scooped into a bowl.

What Is The Overall Difference Between Lye Soap And Non-lye Soap?

I would like to make organic homemade soap. Most receipes require lye, but some do not. First off, how does lye effect the quality of the finished soap. And second, with all other ingredients organic, would it still be organic if I used lye.

What Is The Difference Between Malt Whisky & Grain Whisky?

Malt whisky, at least in the conventional sense, is made of exclusively malted barley, and almost always distilled in a copper pot still.
Grain whiskey can be just about anything. It can be a blend of malted and un-malted barley. It can be both of those with malted rye, un-malted rye, wheat, corn, you name it. While most grain whiskeys are distilled in a Patent still, they can be pot-stilled as well, as per Woodford Reserve bourbon…
27cfr5 (the BATF regs) has categories for both Malt Whisky and Rye Malt whiskey. There is no legal definition of Grain Whisky. However if you consider it to be just Whisky then it can be distilled to no more than 190 proof, whereas the named types (Bourbon, Rye, Wheat, Corn, Malt, Rye Malt) are limited to 160 proof off the still.
The term isn’t used much in the U.S.; it’s more common in Scotland, England and Ireland, being used to refer to whiskeys other than Malt Whiskey. So, grain whisky (no “e”) is made from other cereal grains: corn (or maize), wheat, whatever. I think unmalted barley may be so designated too, but I’m not sure. Second, it’s unmalted. (Keep in mind, at least a small amount of malted grain has to be added to provide the necessary enzyme for converting the starch.) And third, it’s distilled in a continuous still (as is bourbon), not a pot still like malt whisky. The result is a milder, more neutral flavored whisky.
Grain whisky is combined with malt whisky to make blended scotches. However, there are a few producers who bottle straight grain whiskys in Scotland and Ireland, some of whom have received favorable reviews.

What’s The Difference Between Top Coat And Base Coat? Can I Use Them Interchangeably?

Um, it won’t hurt you to use them interchangeably, but I wouldn’t.
1. A top coat is a sealant. This is used to seal in your nailcolor and to keep your nail shiny. It can be used on top of another color, or it can be used alone on a bare nail.
2. A basecoat is designed to protect your nail from the color you are going to put on it. It prevents the nail from yellowing due to the pigmentation of nail polish. It is also a little bit sticky to nail polish. A good basecoat is going to help your nail polish to stick better to your nail; making your nail polish last longer. Most basecoats may appear initially shiny, but because they are kinda sticky, they will not remain so for long if you wear them alone.
You really shouldn’t use a topcoat for a basecoat because a topcoat is so shiny it does not allow the nail polish to stick to it very well. Using topcoat as a basecoat will lead to streaky nail polish, polish that does not wear long, and/or chipped nails.
You really shouldn’t use a basecoat for a topcoat because the polish will not stay shiny and will not wear very long.
