the Irish Famine was the result of capitalism. the government of the UK didn’t intervene to stop the farmers from exporting all the grains from Ireland, and let 1.5 million people starve, and another 2 million emigrate.
the various famines in the British Raj were preventable famines as well, but the price of grain and rice was driven up because of exports to the UK.
and today’s famines in Ethiopia, where they are simply prevented from eating due to being priced out.
can these all be considered deaths attributed to capitalism? because if you were to measure it that way, they’d quickly accumulate in the 400 million range.
(and for those who say Communism killed 100 million, etc.–prove Stalin and Mao were following communism, and not just their own agenda under the name “communism” will ya?)
