Spa Doesn’t Get Hot Enough?

When I set my spa for 105 it says it’s 105 on the digital screen but the thermometer in the water says that its 98 and that’s as hot as it actually goes up to. What could be the problem? I have a Jacuzzi brand spa. Do I need to get a professional out here to get it serviced?

how well insulated is the spa? Is possible that the heater heats to 105 but there is a thermal loss of 7 degrees

The thermostat and or the heating element may not be working properly. Check to see if you can find a fuse that goes to the heater. Disconnect your power before you start poking around in it. Other than that, unless you know a lot about how those heaters work, I’d consult a professional. If you have an electrician friend, have him or her look around and do some tests on it.
