How Can I Make My Hair Look Lighter Without Looking Too Extreme?
What I mean is that I have super dark hair. Its not black but its pretty close. (Its naturally dark not dyed) Ive never dyed my hair before or got highlights but I want a change. I want my hair to be a little lighter, but not extremely noticeable just different you know? Any tips would be great!

Depends on HOW much lighter you want it, and even MORE importantly, whether or not you want warm (reddish) tones in it.
If you do, then try something like Feria “Downtown Brown” or a Chestnut shade.
However, if you want something cool toned (non-reddish), that gets tricky when you have naturally dark hair. If you want something like dark ash blonde, you will have to bleach your hair out very very light to get the orange tones out, then dye over it all over again to tone, and believe me, this WILL damage the hair, though if your good with it, you can control the damage somewhat.
Bottom line, the biggest mistake most ppl make when making their hair lighter is that they ignore the need to keep their hair toned (meaning they leave the brassiness in), this is NOT a good look, so make sure you have a good colour.
If you don’t know everything I’m talking about, look it up, and good luck. Hope this helps.
