What Should My Insurance Cover/check For After My Motorcycle Theft Recovery?
My motorcycle was stolen and then recovered later that day. It was taken to a tow yard and the adjuster only checked for cosmetic damage. Well after getting the bike back after 2 months in the shop it will only run 3 miles and then kills. Was insurance suppose to check for engine damage also?

Yes. They are suppose to check for engine damage. However, sometimes it does not show up until the bike or car is being driven. Just call your claim rep and have the claim reopened and a new estimate given. They may have to total your bike. Call the claim rep for help.

Take it back to the shop and let them look at it. If the shop determines that the mechanical problem is related to the theft, they will call the adjuster out and the adjuster and shop will work out a supplement.
Adjusters are not mechanics. We know alot about motor vehicles but looking at a motorcycle sitting in a tow yard – we have no way to tell if there is mechanical damage. Really now……can you look at the bike just sitting somewhere….no keys…..no riding it and be able to tell it has mechanical damage and what the cause of the damage is?
