What Makes A Car Fast In Your Opinion?
I want to know from all the guys on here what makes a car fast in your opinion? What makes a Camaro, Firebird, Mustang, Porshe fast & what 0-60 time do you consider fast for these type of cars?
The cars I’m asking about all have V8′s & range from years 1985 to the present.
Thanks for your cooperation.

Light weight, aerodynamics, good traction and tires, and power.
Cars like the Camaro and Mustang have the power, but that is all. If you put those same engines used in the Camaro and Mustang into an aerodynamic and lightweight car like the Nissan 240sx, it would be one of the fastest cars in the world.
Less than 5.5 seconds for 0-60mph is very fast and faster than most cars on the road.
The 295HP Porsche Cayman goes from 0-60mph in 4.9 seconds.
Top Speed is 171mph.
The New 422HP Camaro SS goes from 0-60mph in 4.9 seconds.
Top Speed is limited to 155mph, but can reach 170mph.
The New 300HP Ford Mustang goes from 0-60mph in 5.3 seconds.
Top Speed is 146mph.
The Camaro is heaviest. The Porsche is most aerodynamic and lightest. The Mustang has the worst aerodynamics and that is why the top speed is so lo.

For me to consider a car fast it would have 0 to 60 times in about 4 seconds or less.
Many Mustangs, Camaros, Challengers, and even some foreign cars can do 0 to 60 in 5 seconds. But the 4 second mark separates the men from the boys.
Think Cadillac CTS-V – 0 to 60 in 3.9 seconds
Think ZR1 Corvette – 0 to 60 in 3.4 seconds

The best answer is EXCELLENT ENGINEERING. A Ferrari is not just fast, it has aerodynamics painstakingly designed so that it is stable and responsive even at 175 mph. A rally car is not just fast, every fiber of its construction is dedicated to creating the maximum possible amount of adhesion and thus event-dominating speed and control.
“Fast,” in the opinion of most, is merely a car’s ability to do 0-60 in under 6 seconds and lay down 1/4 mile times if 14 sec. or less.
It’s all a matter of opinion.

Pure horsepower might make a car fast in a straight line, but what’s the point if you can’t use it to go around corners? Even a Fiesta can beat a Corvette under the right circumstances:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tLhnLJl4T…
Ok, so it’s not exactly the most “normal” of circumstances, but it does illustrate that nimbleness can beat raw power. For me that’s always a trade-off worth noting, and the ultimate in that would either be a Ford Focus RS, a Honda Civic Type-R or even an… Audi RS6 5.0 (5L v10 in a wagon? – That’s Crazy-Go-Nuts!)

0-60 is a question of traction…for a more complete look, use the 1/4 mile ET and MPH.
Any street car that can pull off a sub 15 sec 1/4 is decently quick for a daily driver…13 sec 1/4s is the standard now for most sports/muscle cars, and anything quicker is FAST!
