whats an ATV???????. if oil is for engine then mixing is better than running with low oil levels If the ATV denotes an automatic gearbox then engine oil must not be used and auto transmission oil is required

To be honest with you as long as there is oil in the engine the potential for engine damage is low.
    Ja.

Probably not, unless it has synthetic in it right now. If so they won’t mix well. You should be good. If you are talking about 2 stroke engine oil you will blow the motor!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Today most air and water cooled All Terrain Vehicle motors are four cycle design. Automotive engine oil of the correct viscosity will work fine for the short term.
You should not use four cycle engine oil if it happens to be a two cycle motor. Two cycle oil is of low ash design to keep the combustion chambers and exhaust ports clean.
