How Many Miles Is To Many For A Motorcycle?

I am looking into buying my first . I am getting a Kawasaki Ninja 250r. I just need to find the right one. I don’t know to much about what is to , or what i should look for in the tires. I don’t mind scratches, so that helps lower the price. How miles is to for a bike? How long can they run for if kept in good condition? Thanks for your time.

You can get 100,000+ miles out of a motorcycle but those tend to be the bigger engines. 4 cylinder Hondas or BMWs never have much problem achieve this. Still that’s the engine and other things may require work. I’d would not purchase a 30K+ mileage 250r, 500 ninja or KLR650 single. Those engines work hard. If you did you still may get thousands of miles of enjoyment but there are plenty of fair priced bikes with -20000 miles. So unless you are getting the deal of the century.

I was in the same position as you with what bike to get for my first one.. I was thinking a ninja 250 too.. dont get it..Everyone i talk to says that you will get bored with it in a year or less. Do yourself a favor and get a 600cc or at least a 500cc. but about the too many miles thing; I am thinking about buying a 1993 honda cbr 600 f4i and it has 40k it just really depends on how well maintained the bike is.. take it for a test drive if you can before buying and make sure that everything is firing on all cylinders.. 40k would probably be the limit for me anyways and the bike i want would not be permanent, i would probably ride it for maybe two or three years before getting a newer one..

Well to answer your question, you can actually get 100,000 miles out of your bike. My cousin has 1997 Honda CBR 1100xx and he has like 59,000 miles on it and he said it runs like it did when he first bought it. He also has another bike (cant remember what it is) that has like 78,000 miles on it. I met another man who had a Harley with about 395,000 miles on it and it was only 4 years old at the time. I remember asking the same question you are when I had my bike serviced at the dealer and the mechanic told me that I would wreck my bike long before the engine goes. So there you have it, you can get plenty of miles out of a bike if you take care of it.
