Would Flowy, Loose Skirts Look Good On My Body?

I have very thin arms and a really small waist, but my hips are much larger in comparison and my legs are not exactly skinny. I guess I have what you call the “hourglass” type. I have noticed that , are the new trend this year. I really like the , but this make me fat? Would it make my legs/hips big? I always thought that if I was very thin from the waist up, flowy skirts would make me thinner, but my mother claims that this type of style just makes a person fat.
