What’s The Difference Between Top Coat And Base Coat? Can I Use Them Interchangeably?

Um, it won’t hurt you to use interchangeably, but I wouldn’t.
1. A top is a sealant. This is used to seal in your nailcolor and to keep your nail shiny. It can be used on top of another color, or it can be used alone on a bare nail.
2. A basecoat is designed to protect your nail from the color you are going to put on it. It prevents the nail from yellowing due to the pigmentation of nail polish. It is also a little bit sticky to nail polish. A good basecoat is going to help your nail polish to stick better to your nail; making your nail polish last longer. Most basecoats may appear initially shiny, but because they are kinda sticky, they will not remain so for long if you wear them alone.
You really shouldn’t use a topcoat for a basecoat because a topcoat is so shiny it does not allow the nail polish to stick to it very well. Using topcoat as a basecoat will lead to streaky nail polish, polish that does not wear long, and/or chipped nails.
You really shouldn’t use a basecoat for a topcoat because the polish will not stay shiny and will not wear very long.

Base coat is what you put on before you put on the top coat. If you reverse them it will not seal the paint.

Base coat is designed to be an intermediary between the surface of your nail and the polish. It makes the polish stick better.
Top coat, a good one anyway, puts a hard shield over your polish to help protect it from scapes and scatches
A good base coat is Orly’s “Bonder” base coat
Good Top coats are Seche Vite and Poshe

Same thing. Base coat goes on your nail before applying polish and then top coat over the polish. Remember to allow each coat dry before applying another.

a base coat is used to make sure that the polish, no matter what color, doesnt stain your nails. top coats are used to 1, make your nails shiny, and 2, to keep them strong and seal in the polish.
do not use one for the other. use a top coat as a top coat, and a base coat as a base coat.

The base coat goes on first. The top coat is used as a sealer. You can use them together, but not in reverse.
