What Kind Of Winter Coat Can I Wear On Top Of A Suit?

I’m walking to an event where the business formal but it’s cold out and my isn’t warm enough. Is it appropriate to wear a coat or a on top of my suit coat while I’m walking outside?

    Perhaps a pea coat? I’ve seen many men wear them over their suits. It looks very nice.
