How Many Cloth Diapers Would Need To Be Purchased?

If I were to go with for my child how I have to purchase per weight class?
And are there ANY diaper cleaning services in Ontario that have a website?

    Hi,
You will need approximetly 24 – I recommend that you get a few different types of diapers. here is a suggestion:
    For your newborn:
12 Prefolds with 4 to 6 covers (Bummis make great covers)
4 Bamboo or Hemp Fitted Diapers (you also use the covers with these)
8 Pocket Diapers (either sized like fuzzibunz or one size like bumGenius)
Once your baby hits the 20 lbs mark, you may need to purchase the next size up for covers, but can still continue to use your infant prefolds during the day. The Bamboo and Hemp Diapers are also sized so you would need a few more of these. I like having at least 24 diapers on hand for my 9 month old daughter, especially when we go away for the weekend. We could do with less, but this amount means that we wash every 2 to 3 days now.
I like the prefolds during the day when you change baby often, the bamboo and hemp are great for nightime diapering, The pockets are super convenient when you are out and about.
AS for diaper cleaning services – I don’t know of any in Ontario, but most times, parents start with a diaper service, and then realize that washing your own diapers is really not hard, and that the diaper service is really just expensive. Our washing machines are efficient at cleaning diapers. Just place the diapers and reusable wipes in a dry pail lined with a waterproof bag, ten wash everything (solids need to be knocked into the toilet) Newborn breastfed baby poop is water soluble, so you don’t don’t have to do anything. Plus if you wash your own, you get to use pocket diapers, where as services generally only use prefolds.
I have a list of things you may need to cloth diaper on my website – see link below. If you would like to talk live, I also have a toll-free number you can use listed on my site.

I have 24 one-size diapers. I think you would be ok with 18, but I wouldn’t get less than that unless you really want to do laundry everyday.

If you want to get away with a wash load every 2 days, buy 20 nappies per size.

I would buy about two dozen to start out with, I didn’t use cloth but when my babies were newborns they went through about 12 diapers each in a 24 hour period.
Kudos for you for using cloth. I wish I could have but didn’t have a washer back when my babies were born.

I also have one size diapers but found them bulky for the first few months. I have 12 one size diapers and 12 bamboo prefolds for my 10 month old and that is plenty. In prefolds 24-30 of each size is good with 4 covers, maybe 6 covers in small.

    for 10-20lbs i bought 25
    for 20-40lbs i bought 20
i didn’t bother with the newborn size, i waited to get cloth diapers when my son was old enough to wear the 10-20 lb.
