Would You Enjoy This Salad?

We’re doing our monthly “Friends with ” dinner at a girlfriends house and I said I would salad. I was going to do romaine with fresh bosc pears, crumbled goat cheese and toasted, spiced walnuts (I’d spice them with some , cinnamon and a pinch of cayenne). The dressing would probably be a strawberry viniagrette. Would you enjoy that? The is making a dish, but I don’t know specifically what type.

Sounds good. Here is another idea that is always a hit:
    MANDARIN ORANGE SALAD
    1/4 cup almonds, sliced
    1 T. plus 1 tsp. Sugar
    ½ head iceberg lettuce
    ½ head romaine lettuce
    1 cup celery, chopped
    3 green onions, thinly sliced
1 (11 oz.) can mandarin oranges, drained
    Dressing:
    ¼ cup vegetable oil
    2 T. vinegar
    2 T. sugar
    1 T. parsley, snipped
    ½ tsp. Salt
    Dash pepper
    Dash hot pepper sauce (Tabasco)
*Tear lettuce into bite size pieces. Place greens in large plastic bag, add celery and green onions. Fasten bag and refrigerate.
*Combine well in a jar: oil, vinegar, sugar, parsley, salt, pepper and Tabasco. Refrigerate at least one hour.
*Cook and stir almonds and sugar over low heat until sugar is melted and nuts are coated. Cool on wax paper and break apart.
*Pour dressing into greens bag 5 minutes before serving. Add oranges. *Shake bag. Add almonds and serve.
    *Serves 4-6

I would not because I hate goat cheese. But I see where you’re going and I think it sounds good. My dad sometimes throws together a similar salad.

We’re doing our monthly “Friends with Wine” dinner at a girlfriends house and I said I would bring salad. I was going to do romaine with fresh bosc pears, crumbled goat cheese and toasted, spiced walnuts (I’d spice them with some sugar, cinnamon and a pinch of cayenne). The dressing would probably be a creamy strawberry viniagrette. Would you enjoy that? The host is making a pasta dish, but I don’t know specifically what type.

I think it sounds fantastic! I wouldn’t do a creamy dressing with it however.

I love it although I would put the nut on the side and let the guess put them on if they wanted ..I say that too say not everyone can eat nuts..

It sounds like a yummy salad, except for the goat cheese and sweet dressing. I’d use a different cheese, maybe feta, and a clear, non sweet vinaigrette since you already got the pears and sweetened walnuts going on.
    I’m sure they’ll enjoy it.

Oh my gosh, YES, YES, YES!!!!!!!!!! I love it all…………..you could also combine some softer greens like Boston Bibb to soften the harshness of the Romaine, but either way, I think it sounds fabulous, I would definitely enjoy it! May I add also that I love the spiced walnut seasonings, goes great with all your other ingredients, gives some texture and a little heat with the Cayenne Pepper. I can’t think of a dish that this wouldn’t taste great with, honestly! Enjoy your “Friends with Wine” dinner, I think you have a “hit” on your hands with this Salad, have a great Thursday!
