Why Do You Have To Have Different Fruit And Vegetables?
i get the whole 5 portions thing, but what is the point of having different ones? surely 5 oranges are just as good for you as an orange and apple a banana etc.
i thought it was the nutrients inside the fruit..not the actual different fruits that we needed. im so confused >.<

All fruit and vegetables contain different nutrients, so we need to vary what we eat to get the full range of vitamins and minerals. For example if you eat tonnes of carrots you’ll get a lot of vitamin A but no vitamin E. Kiwis are high in vitamin C but low in B vitamins. The wider variety of fruit and veg we eat, the more different nutrients we take in. X

The reason why it is better to do different fruits is because there are different nutrients in different fruits.

Each fruit and vegetable provides different vitamins and nutrients to keep our bodies healthy. It is important to have a wide variety of all.
