Is there a Farmer’s Market near you? sometimes they’re only on the weekends, and you might have to drive into the country to find one. But the quality is worth it, and they won’t be expensive either. Otherwise, the produce depts of grocery stores pretty much depend on the produce manager for the quality of the fruits & veggies. Actually, Walmart can have decent produce……and their turnaround is good, so there’s usually a fresh supply (it’s a GREAT place for eggs)
See if there are any local farms that deliver. We have a few in our area.
I signed us up for a weekly delivery. The food is organic, fresh and about avg 30cents less than our local market. Plus we are supporting local small farms.
Organic veggies have more nutrients than non-organic, study:http://www.chiro.org/nutrition/FULL/Nutr…

Stores vary by state and even by city. Most aren’t national chains.
That said … Costco and Sam’s club are national. They have inexpensive fruits and veggies. They don’t have as much variety as regular supermarkets, but it’s a good value.

If there is an Aldi’s in your area, their produce is pretty good and inexpensive. Or a farmers market.
