What Do You Think Of People That Say You’re “nuts” Because You Have A Mental Disorder? ?

An answerer said I was for being bipolar and looking for attention on here. It makes me wonder why the a** was even in health in the first place. I’ve merely been trying to learn more about the and if diet would make a difference.

A lot of people are sensitive to these things. But we need to stop being so sensitive about everythign that someone says and move on. Someone asked me one time when a teacher made a coment about slow learners and I laughed. They said how could you laugh at that? You have son that is autistic. I said yup and my autistic son is in regular classes pulling a 4.0 grade point average. But the whole truth is I have a retarded son that rides the short bus to school with a bunch of window lickers. Everyone in the room laughed. Then one guy that doesnt have any handicapped children got mad and left. Basically dont let it bother you.

They really don’t understand what you have an illness.
I was at a mental health clinic for a job interview a month ago. I know people go there have issues, but I would never label them as “nuts.”
I am actually glad someone tells me their mental illness ,so I can better understand them. (not to mention give them respect & dignity)

when people don’t understand something serious like mental illnesses they use their small minded views to make others feel bad. when someone calls me “nuts” I just call them “apples!”

Who cares? I know it was probably a hurtful thing to hear, but this is the internet. Don’t worry about it.

Depression is real. People that try to tell you otherwise are the “nuts”. Diet can help in some cases.

I think people who say things like that to people who have mental health problems are insensitive, or they think it’s easier to pick and make fun of people that’s different from them. Other people who fear what they don’t understand or they think it’s weird. I think if people knew more about mental health problems who think twice before saying something that hurtful.

i don,t know where the term “nuts” started being used to describe Pepe with mental disorders or the insane, but that is neither here nor there. you sound like an honest person who is being more messed up then they already are, people like to keep people at a disadvantage, you are one of those people who is being victimized, you are going to have to conduct your research and with a more subtle endeavor, and try not to let some people know the directions you are taking, yeah, i know it sounds crazy, but people are like that i hope you find what you are looking for, ad are not too discouraged by what you run into on YA, you might try some other places, where i do not know. a number of these :”professionals” could use some help themselves, don,t let it discourage you, continue on your way, doing what you need to do, you are doing something beneficial for yourself, sometimes people do not like and resent that, particularly a profession, then you wil be telling them their business, and they won,t like that i hope you get where you want to go and good luck to you and God bless and it is sad, but these incapacitating professionals are all over, and can really do some damage, which they do not seem to regret doing, be careful don,t spread your business around so freely in these circumstances

usually people who say that have nothing else to do with their worthless lives, so they say that to make themselves seem that little bit more important…but they’re not.

Hi, I answered your question about 45 mins. ago, let me go back and see what you are talking about….
Hmmmm.. Well, what a jerk. Click on his name, and look at the questions HE has asked, and I think you will agree he is a weirdo.
I never saw him before. He certainly ( according to his questions and answers) never been in this section before.
Don’t sweat it, girlie, if anything, HE is the one with some screw loose!

It’s basically because they don’t understand the disorder. If you’vee never suffered or have seen someone suffer with a mental illness it’s easy to dismiss someone who is suffering as “nuts”. It’s difficult to understand mental illness when all you have to go on is your small world of understanding, when you’ve never been exposed to anything “out of the ordinary” This doesn’t excuse that behavior at all, it is completely uncalled for especially when speaking to someone you don’t know.
My sister is bipolar and I do call her a nut every once in a while. We use it as a sort of coping method though. Mental illness is very difficult to live with so we joke around about it in order to make things a bit more tolerable. but we only make those jokes around each other, we would never use it to describe someone else with a mental illness.
My sister was diagnosed 4 or 5 years ago. She had been on meds since but she recently started eating well and escersing regulary and she noticed it was easier to regulate and be aware of her moods. She now has a better understanding of when she’s getting a bit too anxious so she knows to kinda step back and calm down a bit. despite diet and excersise it’s very important you stay in contact with a pychiatrist .. not an MD.. a psychiatrist that truely understands psych meds for when you need an adjustment

People often respond to things like this because they are ignorant. There is nothing wrong with bipolar people and whom ever stated that clearly has no understanding of the idea “sensitivity”. (I’m not saying you’re sensitive, but I think that when talking about stuff like this there should be a certain degree of respect and caution used when you select your words.) Also, I believe that because that person might not know what bipolar meant he might think it means insane. Maybe the idea of insanity scares him? Well, I hope this helps answer your question :D

I believe they are the ones who are truly “nuts” who uses a term like that anyway? Where did that originate from? Some guy with schizophrenia ran around throwing cashews at people? It’s stupid!

don’t mind these assholes on here. i lost 4,00 point due to someone asking “if i smoke crack wil i lose weight”. but that is beside the point. I have 3 siblings who suffer from bipolar. I notice that when they are under less stress their mood swings are less frequent. I understand you and and know what your going through. just do some good research
