There Is A Ginger Cat That Likes To Sit In My Front Garden. It Just Sits There Day Or Night. Why?
When I go outside and see it, it runs out of the garden. There are 2 places it seems to sit.I can’t see that it does any poo there, so I wonder what is it about my garden it likes and therefore keeps coming back.

Cats are territorial, so maybe he just thinks that your garden is his home (I’m not being sexist by assuming it’s male – most total ginger cats are. If it’s ginger and white, it could be either gender).
Cats also love heat. Is the area particularly warm, perhaps sheltered from wind and in a sunny spot?
Cats are nosey and like to keep an eye on things – maybe the areas he’s sitting in offer a good vantage point for other cats doing the rounds? If the spot he chooses is in front of a bush, fence or wall and particularly if there are a lot of other cats in the area, this could well be the explanation.
Unless, that is, you’ve got some catnip (a.k.a cat mint) growing there? If he eats or rubs himself against a plant near there (and particularly if he looks a bit drunk afterward) that’s definitely the reason (catnip seems to give cats a mild high).
As the other respondent said, cats don’t mess up their own environments so if he’s settling there, he won’t spray, poo or dig the soil there.

Cats have senses. They get a feel for a place and they go back, the cat may feel comfortable. They will not pooh in their home place so it will probably go elsewhere for that if it is happy in your garden.

You might have a plant that is appealing to the cat or there may be birds that the cat enjoys watching. Maybe it is especially sunny and cozy in that spot. Cats can be hard to figure out sometimes.
