It’s a bit gruesome in parts , and the accents are hollywood fabricated but it is one of those movies you will remember.

It’s very entertaining but it’s far too full of propagandist bull for my liking.

Great film, gives a real insight into the period. Very raw film especially compared to Micheal Collins which although a great film suffers from the hollywood treatment.
    Enjoy!

Yes. It’s superb. However, if you aren’t Irish, the accents might be hard to understand, which is probably why it wasn’t as big a movie outside Ireland… although I’m sure there were “other” reasons it wasn’t so big in Britain too :-)

its ok i agree with the mop dog’s comment too much propaganda like moments in it. besides that when it came out i was dissapointed with all the hype it had received. I’ve saw it once that was enough for me.
but in general its an ok film

Yes! Its definitely worth watching! Some of the historical details are a teeny bit mixed up, the acting is great. Its very powerful, as one of the others said, its one you won’t forget.
On tonight at the same time as Little Miss Sunshine, ohh the decisions! :P
EDIT—) If you say so – I don’t understand the ‘hollywood fabricated accents’ comment. The Irish people are played by Irish people. A lot of the extras were used from west cork where a lot of the film was filmed. There was no changing of accents as far as I know of.

It’s excellent – one of the better movies about the period. Cillian Murphy does a fine job in it.

Yes very worth watching, although it contains a Collection of Incidents rolled into one.
It contains Incidents involving the Black and Tans although it does not say so in as much.
It gives the impression that all British Soldiers were Tyrannical and this is not strictly so.The worse Offenders were the Black and Tans a Group brought in by the British Government because of their Viciousness. They were Recruited from the Prisons of Britain and Officiered by Regular British Army and had mismatched Uniforms of Black and Khaki owing to the Shortage of Uniforms.
They were brought in to Terrorize the Irish Population and Regularly Fired Shots at People in the Streets and Set Parts of Cork City on Fire and were very Brutal.
At that time the British Government began a Vicious Campaign to Assassinate the IRA and the IRA for their Part began a Counter Campaign just as Vicious against the British and Assassinated all the Top Secret Service Agents Spies and Officiers.
