Is Anyone A Marks And Spencers Foodie. Have You Noticed That Their Fruit And Vegetables Look And Taste?
much better than any of the other supermarkets. I just wondered is it because of seed selection, the soil in which they are grown in, methods and time of harvesting or any other reason. I find it expensive to purchase all their goods, with smaller sizes of packaging, it is costly to feed a whole family. I just wondered if their fruit and vegetables are unique to them or are they available elsewhere. For example, I see Pink Lady apples at their shops. Is this variety of Pink Lady apple exactly the same as at the other supermarkets. Also their grapes are larger than commonly available elsewhere, and I wonder if these grapes are also grown specifically for them and the same question I wish to ask for all their food range.

I find Sainsburys food the nicest of all. Although for fruit and veg you are better to go to the smaller fruit and veg shops.

I get my lunch there most days and the quality of their selections (sandwiches, pasta’s etc) is far superior to other supermarkets.
I don’t quite no why the quality and ingredients of their products are so much nicer but I’m guessing other supermarkets with the exception of waitrose use cheaper suppliers and methods.

I saw an interview with a grape grower who said that only M&S and Waitrose gave a fair price for his produce so he was happy to supply them with the best.
I used to work picking veg and we had to sort them, the best for their supermarket and the rest for markets, so there is a type of grading

I think you need to get about a bit more, they polish them and make them look nicer, and you pay for the privilege, the cheaper supermarkets don’t seem to worry about quality, but Waitrose is far superior to M&S.
Edit, John C, just off to there now, may see you, how will I know?

They do sell some varieties that aren’t in the supermarkets (actually, make that used to as I haven’t shopped there since the 90s) and some that are. I used to buy a specific variety of tomato that I couldn’t get elsewhere. Very expensive but actually with flavour unlike the supermarket crap that looks good but tastes of bugger all.

M&S fruit is the best i buy the grapes and they are always fresh and crunchy they don’t last long in my house both varieties are really crunchy and i love them they might be more expensive that the other shops but they really are fresher and nicer.
