I Can’t Keep Fruit Flies Away When I’m Ripening Plantains. What Am I Supposed To Do?
I like to ripen plantains really well before cooking them, but I can’t keep the fruit flies away and it’s really a problem. I end up throwing them all out. Any tips on keeping them away? Will closing a brown paper bag keep them off? Can I ripen them in the fridge?

You can put them in a plastic container and leave it on the counter. The brown bag is great, but the flies will still come around. Put a bit of basil in the bag, it helps keep flies away.
