How Many Times A Day To Feed A 4month Old, Baby Rice?
my Daughter will be 4 months old on christmas day, and i’m thinking of starting her on baby rice. How many times a day do you give it to them along with thier bottle feeds too ?

Once a day at 4 months old. Her formula or breast milk should be her main source of nutrition.

honestly I would wait until she is at least 6 months old. rice cereal doesn’t really have that much nutritional value, and “fills them up” versus giving them nutrients they can should receive with breast milk or formula. A better first food is a little mashed banana; maybe once a day at first and then gradually building up. I would talk to your pediatrician before making any changes to her diet. I know it’s fun to see her try new foods and solids, but there is plenty of time for that!

Start with a small amount once a day and as she grows you can increase the amount and frequency. A tablespoon at first is probably plenty and putting it in a bottle is not the best idea. You are training your baby to eat solid food so give it to her with a spoon and it will beeasier to bottle break her later.

one time a day
in the morning
or before bedtime so she’ll sleep better
you dont even need to start that early if you dont want to
let her get used to the idea of having it in her mouth too, she needs to learn to swallow it. if she cant swallow it or still has the tounge thing going on then i’d wait
I went with oatmeal instead becauser its better for you
i started my 1st at 4 months, then my 2nd around 8 months, but my 3rd I waited til she was close to 10 months. They were all breastfed and doing great too.

Baby rice shouldn’t be introduced until your baby gets to the point where milk is no longer satisfying her. And is one of those things best discussed with her doctor before you start it.
When you do start with the baby rice, it is best to just mix a little in her bottle once a day. You can gradually work up from there. … I think the most baby cereal I gave my daughter was mixing it in two 4-oz bottles a day. One around 10AM and another before bed time. By the time we got to that point, she was close to being ready for baby food.

my son just turned 4 months and i have been giving him about a tablespoon in his bedtime bottle, it also helps him sleep a little better because hes a little fuller, and i would feed it to him by spoon twice a day…. in the late morning and in the evening, like breakfast and dinner for us. sometimes he was a little too hungry to have the patience to eat it, so i would wait in between feeding to give it to him or else he would throw a fit and then choke on it from the fit.

my wife and I started our daughter at 1 month because she has acid reflux. she is 4 months we we give her about a table spoon and a half with her milk. since it will be the first time i would do less to make sure the baby will like it.

Why are you wanting to start feeding your baby so soon?
Is she spitting up? That is the only reason why I did with my first one to stop spitting up. My second one I waited till she was 6 months, the recommend age.
Is she acting like she’s still hungry? Use caution, these days people are over feeding their children.
If you are making that choice do it very slowly, I would do it in her first morning feeding to make sure she isn’t allergic, and only what’s recommend and I would get it from the natural food store.
Then I would do that for a month, if she seems to be getting more hungry or harder to fill her then add it to another meal time. Then I would wait another month and have it in a third meal. No more than that. I would then start another bland cereal like oatmeal for the following month (after she is 6 months old)

When you first start off you should only give it to her once a day preferably at night to help her sleep. Then after a couple days you can add a morning feed and then an afternoon one. You should give her bottle feeds as much as she wants, usually atleast six.

The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends waiting until 6 months to start solids.
However if you are going to start sooner, you should only give about 1 tablespoon mixed with an equal amount of suitable liquid 1 time a day for the first week and gradually move up to 2 or 3 times a day adjusting consistency as the baby develops. Also you should always offer breast or bottle first and then cereal. It is perfectly OK if baby does not finish the cereal and she may even reject it initially. It will take some time for her to become accustomed to the new taste and texture.
Also I started with rice for my first baby and it made her painfully constipated for days even after we stopped giving it to her for a while. When we reintroduced cereal we gave her oatmeal and it settled with her much better. When I had my second we started right off with oatmeal.
Beech Nut has a whole grain rice cereal which may be better though than single grain and Happy Bellies brown rice cereal is a good choice also and contains probiotics for digestive and immune development.

first of all, you should NEVER feed a baby cereal in a bottle. it has a high risk of choking. also, 4 months is a little on the small side to start. you should wait until your baby gives you the “ready for solids” signs, like having the pincer hold (thumb and forefinger instead of fist grasp), holding up head steadily, sitting with support, reaching for food and taking it to mouth, etc…you shouldn’t rush her into something she isn’t ready for. congratulations on your bundle!
