How Does Temperature Effect The Rate Of Respiration In Plants?
Specifcally in germinating peas. If anyone has any figures for those, it’d be helpful.

It increases cellular activity and the respiration process so growth is faster

To an extent, the higher the temperature, the more respiration. However, plants have enzymes (complex protein structures) which they use in all cell function – and these will only work up to a certain temperature (after which they become denatured – they can’t function properly). The moisture content of the soil and air are also critical and temperature has an effect on these attributes too.
As far as peas are concerned: At 40 F it takes a pea seed 36 days to germinate. If the soil temperature is 55 F that pea only takes about 10 days to germinate.
Hope this helps
