How Can Dominos Pizza Get Away With Their New Advertising Campaign?
I order pizza pretty often. Early on I learned that Dominos was pretty bad, so I stayed away from them. Their new Ad campaign basically has them admitting that their pizza has been crap since they opened their doors, and stating that they have revamped their whole recipe and improved upon every facet of their Pizza. They even show Chefs pouring their hearts out at the change.
All of this made me want to try them again, so I ordered a special $5.55 each Medium Pizza, Bread Bowl and Sub. The whole meal was awful. The pizza crust was slopped in a greasy semi-sweet semi-garlic oil-slime, the sauce was so pasty it was like jello and the cheese and toppings were so sparse they cannot be commented on. The bread bowl was nothing short of disgusting and no one wanted more than 1 bite. It was slopped in the same sugary slime as the pizza, the pasta was and either uncooked or old; as it was dried out enough to be crunchy. The Chicken Habanero sandwich was not too bad, it had decent flavor but it was unbelievably skimpy. Compare it to a $5.00 sandwich from Subway or Wendys or to a Pizza Hut Pizzone and it comes up extremely short. The food was awful.
The delivery guy was nice and he arrived on time but when he quoted the price it was $2 more than it was supposed to be. It turns out that Dominos charges $2 for delivery now, and it’s apparently not something they mention when they accept the order, so that too was disappointing.
Now all of that is certainly construable as opinion, but that was my experience as I perceived it. Obviously I was not happy. The Dominos commercial states EMPHATICALLY that you are guaranteed to love their new Pizza and that if you don’t for any reason they are happy to give you your money back. The Head Chef then goes on to emphasize; “All of it, not half of it, ALL of it!”
I called Dominos to tell them about my experience and I was offered a free Lava Bread the next time I placed an order. I explained that I wasn’t going to be placing anymore orders and that I wanted my money back. The manager told me that Dominos did not do that. I mentioned the commercial and quoted the Chef and the manager responded by telling me that was just TV and that the best he could do was send me a new Pizza (not a bread bowl or a sub either JUST the same medium pizza) and that I would have to pay the $2.00 delivery charge for it.
I told him that we hadn’t eaten the first pizza and that I didn’t want another one. I told him I wanted my money back a second time ……. and he hung up on me.
I do not understand how a company can NATIONALLY ADVERTISE that they have a 100% money back guarantee that you will LOVE the product ( not just like or be satisfied with it but LOVE it is what they say in their ad ) and then utterly and totally break their word on it when someone asks about it and get away with it.
I order pizza at least once a month and both Pizza Hut and Papa Johns always bring me my moneys worth. I wish I hadn’t even tried Dominos again, they were always bad (and they have now admitted this) but………
HOW can they outright lie about a 100% money back guarantee and get away with it? With all the legal BS we have to go thru in this day and age is there no one who verifies claims made by nationwide franchises on national TV ?
What can I do about this? I am pretty mad………..

I suspect a letter with the facts as outlined would interest the home office.
