Help My 1 And 1/2 Year Old Is A Very Picky Eater!?

He wont have anything to do with vegetables, except mashed potatoes (we call them mashed yum yums) because if he hears potato he wont eat it. I’m beginning to think he is lactose intolerant because whenever we give him yogurt or cheese he is constipated for a week. He isn’t fond of except for pears. I’m stressed out because I don’t to give him , and he flat out refuses vegetables and fruits. Any tips or on what to feed him?

I agree with the answers you have gotten so far, i also agree that dairy does not usually cause constipation most times like in my sons case who is allergic to dairy will get diarrhea and gas when he has any dairy and as far as not wanting to eat that age group is always going to be picky but if you are concerned then two things take him to the doctor and the other is you can always give him vitamins and pedicure that will fill in those things that he is missing by not eating the veggies and fruits.
I hope that helps you a bit.

I think it’s normal at that age to be picky and eat less. I have a kid around the same age and she still partially eats babyfood. You can put some protein powder on whatever it was he will eat. I just put some in her milk bottle. But you can sprinkle it on food. And I don’t think consitpation is a sign of lactose intolerance. But I am curious to see other’s opinions. Maybe puree some veggies and sneak them in the mashed potatoes. Or put some carrot babyfood in her bottle. My child I think eats less than yours. So don’t feel bad. Mine will eat cheese, crackers, cereal bars, chicken, banana, and that’s about it. They are constantly changing at this age I’ve noticed. What she’ll eat one week, she won’t the next, or vice versa.

If he gets hungry, he’ll eat. The key is not to make him think you’re a maid. Keep feeding him what you normally feed him. Remember, you’re not running a restaurant.
He’ll never get use to it, if he never tries it. If he never tries them, that’s the type of child that gets hooked on junk food. That leads to obesity. Is that what you want?
