Comfort Ate Way Too Much Tonight, But Gonna Start Diet Tomorrow. This Is My Play, Will I Lose Weight?
Tonight I wound up comfort eating on a ton of crackers, cereal, cookies, peanut butter and frosting because I got totally emotional for personal reasons, and right now I’m totally beating myself up for it. But tomorrow I plan on starting a healthy diet, without any splurge days or comfort-eat days.
I’m a 16 year-old girl, I’m only 5’2″ but I weigh 130 lbs. I’ve done alot of dieting, and one diet actually got me to lose 5 lbs in two weeks, and I kept it off. And then I did that diet for so long, it stopped working, and I did other things. I got down to 124 lbs and I wanted to lose another 6 – 10 lbs. So I did the Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred DVD and I still ate healthy while doing it, but I gained 6 lbs so I’m back to 130. I’m pretty sure some of that is muscle though, cause I play alot of DDR and I have alot of muscle in my calves and I can feel alot in my thighs, and I noticed more in my thighs, arms and abs after I finished the DVD. So I’m trying to do a exercise routine that’s mainly cardio, to burn the fat.
I have a slightly pear/hour glass shaped body, but all of my fat is stored on my bum and my thighs, and I have a small layer of fat on my stomach as well, covering some slightly toned abs.
My measurements are 36 inch bust, 29 inch waist and 39 inch bum, and I can hardly squeeze into a size 8 pants. I want to get them all down just a bit, especially my bum, I want it at about 36. That’s only 3 inches, a reasonable goal if were to lose about 10 – 15 lbs before summer, like I’m hoping to.
The foods I eat are oatmeal (unsweetened) , fruits (berries apples and bananas), vegetables, whole wheat breads and bagels, peanut butter, almonds, popcorn or sugar-free jello if i need a snack, healthy things like that. No meat though cause I’m a vegetarian. I’m gonna try to eat between 1200 – 1500 calories a day. And I also drink 3 glasses of green tea a day, and a lot of water, one liter after every half hour I work out, and more throughout the day.
My workout, which I’ll do everyday besides one day to give myself a break (I’ll still keep active on that day though) will be a half an hour of using my exercise bike at 35 – 45 mph, which burns around 800 – 900 calories and then a half hour exercise routine that’ll be something like this
abs:
50 reps of crunches
30 reps of sit ups
30 reps of reverse crunches
60 reps of leg twists in a plank pose
30 lunges
30 squats
100 walking lunges (50 per side)
30 butterflies
and a small cardio routine (12 minutes)
I run in place for 3 minutes
Then I do jump rope for 3
Then I run for a minute and a half
Jump for another 3
And run for another minute and a half
So if I follow through with this, will I lose the inches and the weight I want to by summer??
Thanks soo much!

You’re off to a decent start. Small steps are key to a lot of people as long as they’re practical. You have a good exercise regimen planned out, but I’d probably start smaller. For instance, when I started focusing on my health, I jogged for a mere 10 minutes a day until I could handle 15 until I could handle 20 and so on. I also started off at only 3 days a week. It’s difficult when you aren’t used to exercising and you’re looking a full hour in the face, almost everyday. But, if you start slowly, your body will not only adjust better, but you’ll develop a habit and it’ll become natural to want to do it more. Of course, if you can handle all of that without getting overwhelmed, then by all means, go for it.
As far as diet’s are concerned – think health, not weight loss. If you focus primarily on health, weight loss will come naturally. Believe it or not, you’d do best to cut out most breads and pastas. Look at the ingredients in some of these things. Whole wheat breads and bagels can still contain high fructose corn syrup and even if it digests more slowly, it’s still likely to put on pounds. It’s really not as healthy as they make it out to be. Most commercial peanut butters also still have added sugars, too. If you want bread, go for sprouted, Ezekiel bread. It’s a bit more natural.
Personally, I converted to a mostly raw food diet and dropped pounds like nobody’s business. Basically, stick to raw foods – like fruits, veggies and nuts. Foods lose most of the nutrients when they’re cooked so, by eating them raw, you’re getting much more nourishment for your body. Not to mention, you’ll be taking in lots of fiber, so those toxins and undigested portions of food will go through you instead of staying in you. I lost 15 lbs in 3 months and this was before I started exercising more regularly.
So, yes, I think you have a good chance of losing 10-15 lbs by summer with your plan. I think that may be greatly accelerated if you cut out the whole wheat breads and try either sprouted bread or none at all. I also think if you stick to eating mostly raw foods, you’re health will sky rocket and your weight will plummet further!
