most paedatricians, Dr’s and childhood specailist reccommend that a baby should only have breadt mild and or infant formula until they are six months old and then they should be gradually introduced to solids, the reason for this is that if babies are fed to early they may develop problems with thier gut and it puts strains on other internal organs e.t..c and it may cause obeseity later on in life.
anyway if your baby is six months old you can buy rice ceral from the shop make sure that is says 6months on the packet. you can follw the directions on the packet to make it or the way I make it is by placing an ordinary reaspoon full usually heaped into a bowl and add enough cooled boiled water, Expressed breast milk or pre-prepared formulae to make a smooth consistency a little bit thicker than pancake mixture. then microwave to for about 15 seconds to take the chill off if it is too cold (i.e. the formuale or breast milk has just come out of the fridge).
give to baby first thing in th morning before a bottle and watch for 24 hours to ensure no reactions occurr then continue to feed for however long you want. I normally fed my children plain rice ceral for about two weeks and th gradually introduced pureed fruit you can usually buy this at the shop or make you r own buy boiling some apple or pear in some water until soft and then place in blender or food processor puree and place in small containers and freeze they can have the fruit by its self or mixed in rice ceral.
once they are used to the rice ceral they can start having things like pureed potato, pumpkin broccli and carots (if doing them your self in a blender wait until about 8 months or until child has teeth before giving carrot as it does not puree or mash very well). I boil my vegies until really tender and the puree using a little bit of formula or the water that the vegies were cooked in to give a smooth consistency as they get older and used to eating you can just mash with a fork or vegie masher. I normally do this once a week and place what I think my baby will eat in a microwavable and freezer safe container you can ususally buy them in the baby section at any supermarket or similar store
I dont introduce meat peas or beans until after 1 year as that is when the gut can handle more “lumpy food”and the baby usually has teeth to chew buy then but it still needs to mashed vegies and the meat usually start with mince needs to be just cooked plain with no flavouring and if given chicken it needs to be cut up quite fine with no bones (most children will not eat fish until at least 12 so i wouldnt even bother unless its fish fingers)
